When is Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) gonna get down with her bad self on The Walking Dead? Soon! It sounds like Carol is going to hit the character development jackpot in Season 4, which premieres October 13.
Sophia’s mom showed a sassier side on Season 3, but she also had to be protected by T-Dog (IronE Singleton), then found and rescued by Daryl (Norman Reedus). AMC recently shared an awesome Season 3 deleted scene featuring Carol laying down the law with Daryl’s brother Merle (Michael Rooker), but we need more of that damn girl stuff to actually air.
Cue Season 4. That wonderful extended trailer has already teased two badass Carol moments — one where she teaches little kids how to use knives (!) and another where she does something so risky even Rick is worried she’s being too bold. What would her husband think of her now? (Actually if Ed was around now, she’d probably just deck him. Let’s all take turns decking Ed.)
Access Hollywood recently talked to Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn, and asked him what it’s like to work with Melissa McBride. “You know, Melissa has not been given the stuff that she can definitely deserve and pull off and it’s definitely gonna come — everyone, I think, this coming season, is gonna be open to sussing out the world and really diving into characters that you haven’t really gotten to know. And over the course of the last three seasons, just working with Melissa, she’s one of my favorite humans in this world. She is the greatest. … and to watch her act is mind boggling because all I can think about is how I can’t do anything close to what she’s doing so why I am on the show still.”
Aww! He’s so humble. Steven rocks too, but it’s nice to hear Melissa may be given more material that stands up to her talent. “Caryl” shippers are dying for her to get romantic with Norman’s Daryl, but we want more for her as a person as well, beyond a relationship.
Speaking of Norman, though — ‘cause really, who can stop — Melissa told Access that Norman once signed bananas at craft services during Season 3. Access asked Steven if they all do wacky stuff like that or if it’s just Norman. “I think that’s Norman,” Steven said. “I think Norman is the only one on our show who could sign a banana and have someone fight to get that banana.” Truth. Where are those bananas now?
What do you want for Carol — with or without Daryl — on Season 4?
