It’s not easy to fall in love in a post-apocalyptic world (for starters, there are only so many people to choose from) and if anyone on The Walking Dead understands that dilemna best it’s Beth Greene (Emily Kinney). Beth was still in high school when walkers began taking over the world, and she’s seen more than her fair share of heartache since.
Not only has the sweet blonde teen contemplated suicide, but as of the Season 4 midseason finale, she’s seen both of her parents get killed in front of her. In addition to losing her mom and dad, Hershel Greene, (Scott Wilson) Beth has also bid goodbye to two boyfriends who were no match for some ravenous walkers.
Beth’s beau, Jimmy, bit the dust in Season 2 when the Greene barn was overrun with dozens of undead beings, and more recently Beth was practically void of emotion when Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) told her that her boyfriend Zach didn’t survive the Big Spot run in the Season 4 premiere.
Sure, it’s not unusual to lose people you love in a world as dangerous as this, but we couldn’t help but wonder if young men should keep their distance from Beth. You know, just to be safe. This “curse,” if you even want to call it that, has even been brought to Emily’s attention. The 28-year-old actress tells nj.com, “People on the show have said to me, ‘You shouldn’t date Beth because you’ll end up a zombie meal!’” Emily had recently said that she’d like to see Beth in a mature relationship, but maybe it’s better if the fellas hold back for a bit…
We’re not so concerned with Beth’s love life (sorry girl) but if this curse extends to her older sister, Maggie Greene, (Lauren Cohan) who is engaged to marry Glenn Rhee, (Steven Yeun) then we’ll be really mad!
Do you think Beth is really bad luck, or are her loses just par for the course in a world like this? Weigh in below!
The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
