The Walking Dead Season 4: Why Did Daryl and Beth Burn the House Down in Episode 12: “Still”?

The March 2 installment of The Walking Dead — Season 4, Episode 12: “Still” — started off pretty rough, with Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) nudging a reluctant Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) along in the quest for shelter and survivors. Over the course of the hour, Beth and Daryl bonded as they searched for her first drink — but they still experienced a few bumps along the way.

For example, when Beth asked Daryl if he’d ever been to jail, he flew off the handle before breaking down and admitting that he felt personally responsible for Hershel Greene’s (Scott Wilson) death. He also feels that he’s to blame for the destruction of the prison because he didn’t go after The Governor (David Morrissey) when he had the chance.

It was clear that both Beth and Daryl were still reeling from the events of the midseason finale, and in an act of solidarity, they decided to burn down the Moonshine house where Beth was finally able to get her first alcoholic beverage.

But why exactly did they burn the dilapidated home to the ground? That’s exactly what we asked Viggle LIVE! users during the premiere of Season 4, Episode 13: “Alone”, and the results to this trivia question are below.

87 percent of those who responded correctly answered that Beth and Daryl burned the house down because they wanted a fresh start. Meanwhile, 7 percent thought it was because the house was full of walkers, and 6 percent believed it was because Beth always wanted to start a fire.

We admire Beth and Daryl’s need for a new start, but seeing as how Episode 13 ended with Beth seemingly getting kidnapped and Daryl joining a questionable group of dangerous dudes, we bet they’d be eager to go back to the Moonshine house at this point.

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
