The Walking Dead Season 4: Why Haven’t Daryl and Carol Had Sex Yet? Melissa McBride Says…

Since the start of The Walking Dead, fans of the show have been hankering for Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) to hook up. At the start of the series Carol was trapped in an abusive marriage, while viewers have never even heard anything about Daryl’s romantic history.

Carol and Daryl (or “Caryl”) as they are affectionately called, have shared their many sweet moments and nicknames (Pookie, anyone?) but the pair have never hooked up. Come to think of it, they’ve never really come close.

Now that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) has exiled Carol from Team Prison, we’re worried that these two lovebirds may never get the chance to make it official. When Vulture chatted with actress Melissa McBride they asked her why Carol and Daryl have never hooked up, and she offered up an interesting theory.

“I think having elements of a deep connection, that’s wonderful. I think that if it evolves, that’s also wonderful. But, I don’t know, if it were me, I wouldn’t want to be caught with my pants down,” Melissa said with a laugh. “You don’t know what’s coming around the corner. You have to run. If it’s just a physical relationship, I guess she’d be like, ‘OK, hurry up!’”

In other words, Melissa thinks that Carol and Daryl have bigger things to worry about instead of wasting time between the sheets. Ya know, like staying alive. “They’re too smart,” she notes. “And it’s kind of hard to do it with a clunky crossbow strapped behind your back.”

Melissa makes a good point there, but everyone needs some sexy time every now and then, Just ask Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun)!

Do you think there’s still a chance that Carol and Daryl will hook up in the future, or should we stop wishing for this to happen? Weigh in below!

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
