Another new promo for The Walking Dead Season 4 is here! This one, which AMC dubbed “Not Afraid,” fails to use the obvious Eminem song continues to preview the second half, which premieres Sunday, February 9. This includes a lot of repeat and extended footage from other recent promos and sneak peeks, with the focus still squarely just on a few characters. There are some new scenes here, but not a whole lot of new information. But here are five takeaways.
1. Rick Looks Like Craaaaaaaap
Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) is a Hottie McHotterson, but wow. Bad look for poor Rick. The injured dad hobbles behind his son Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) in what's most likely a scene from Episode 9 itself. We hear Rick tell Carl, "I only clung to that for you. We'll never get things back to the way they used to be."
2. Daryl Runs Through a Cemetery
We read about filming in a cemetery a while back. We thought maybe someone had died, but maybe not. In this video, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is shown running through a graveyard, busting up some walkers. It's like a scene from a horror movie. Over the image we hear his voice-over growl, "I ain’t afraid of nothing." Is he saying that to Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), in another scene? Does she play Grammar Police and tell him that means he must be afraid of something?
3. Tyreese Is Searching For Safety
We see Tyreese (Chad Coleman) killing walkers, and young Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) and Mika (Kyla Kenedy) running down a train track. His voice says, "We'll find a safe place soon. We will." Is he reassuring the girls?
4. Maggie Attacked
In a previous sneak peek video, Lauren Cohan said Maggie Greene would channel her grief straight into anger, and here we see her covered by a walker and she fights it off. Where are Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.), who were last seen with her? Are they already dead?!
5. Who Is Beth Trying to Save?
At the end of the promo, in the dark, Beth tells someone (probably Daryl) something like, "You've got to save who you are, not who you were." Where is she? Some open doorway? A train car? We also see Beth in a different scene, walking away from a fire. Beth has a major presence in just about every promo and sneak peek, so the message is clear: Beth Greene is about to have her moment.
What do you think of this promo? Are you getting anxious for intel on the people they haven’t shown too much, like Bob, Sasha, and even Glenn?
The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
