The Walking Dead Season 4: What’s it Like to Work With Baby Judith? Emily Kinney Says…

In Hollywood they say two of the most difficult things you can work with are animals and children. While The Walking Dead doesn’t have very many animals on set (though there’s certainly an abundance of walkers!) the show has had several kids in its cast and at least one baby in the mix since the Season 3 midseason finale.

That tiny tot in question is none other than baby Judith, though now she is actually played by twins Tinsley and Anniston Price. Tinsley and Anniston seem very well behaved to us, though Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) may disagree. You don’t put your hand over a kid’s mouth for nothing...or do you?

Prior to the Season 4 midseason finale Emily Kinney actually spent a great deal of time with the girls because her character Beth Greene was often tasked with taking care of Judith. As a result, the blog asked her what it’s like to work with a baby.

When asked if she liked it, Emily said, “I do because it can be challenging. The baby sort of runs the scene. If they’re going to cry, you have to be quick or it ruins the scene. You have to always be ready because it only matters when the baby is ready.”

But despite the inherent challenges of filming with someone who can’t walk or talk yet, Emily said shooting with a real baby actually improves the story on a number of levels. “In some ways it makes you less self-conscious, which I like. And also, the baby’s reaction is so real, I think it adds a sense of weight to scenes — it keeps you in the moment,” she dished.

Unfortunately for Emily, it doesn’t look like she’ll be holding baby Judith anytime soon, but maybe her kidnappers have a kiddo she could sing to! As for Judth, we’re a bit worried about her going into this Sunday’s Episode 14: “The Grove”, but hopefully she’ll live long enough to at least have a happy reunion with her father Rick Grimes. (Andrew Lincoln) and brother Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs).

Do you think baby Judith will make it to toddlerhood, or should we be preparing to say goodbye? Tell us what you think below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
