The Walking Dead Season 4: 2014 Emmy Awards Campaign Focuses on “Something Human”
The 66th Primetime Emmy Award nominations will be announced on July 10, 2014, with the winners named August 25 on NBC. AMC is dropping some coin to help the The Walking Deadstars finally get some Emmys attention, via an exciting new campaign focused on the tagline “Something Human.”
The Hollywood Reporter shared eight posters the network is using in this year’s campaign, each one focusing on the actors and their characters’ powerful stories in TWD Season 4, which is the season in consideration, since voting covers primetime TV programming from June 1, 2013 until May 31, 2014.
"We've always said that The Walking Dead is a character drama that asks and explores some very fundamental questions -- what does it mean to survive and how do you hold onto your humanity amidst all these really terrible things happening? This Emmy campaign focuses on those powerful, emotional moments and performances that underscore these very questions," AMC Executive Vice President of Marketing Linda Schupack told The Hollywood Reporter. "For the campaign, we wanted to remind Emmy voters of both the beauty of the actors' performances and the powerful story lines that motivated them."
First of all, it’s just good to hear they have a plan in place, since the Emmys have not shown any love to TWD beyond wins for makeup and nods for visual effects and sound editing. And S4 is exactly the right season to single out for special treatment when it comes to the actors. We’ve already vowed to riot if Melissa McBride is passed-over for her incredible work asCarol Peletier and you can head to THR to see the Carol poster AMC created as part of the campaign.
The Emmy voters can’t go wrong with any of these actors, but they will go wrong if they continue to ignore TWD’s stars just because it’s a “zombie” show. Give these posters careful consideration, voters … or Carol just might make you look at the flowers!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
