The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 12 Pays Tribute to Sarah Jones
Sarah Jones, a 27-year-old camera operator, was killed on the Savannah set of the Allman brothers biopic a little over a week ago, and her shocking a tragic passing — she was killed while filming on train tracks — has sent shock waves around Hollywood. Sarah’s name was added to the Oscar’s “In Memoriam” segment last night, March 2, via a banner at the bottom of the television screen, and she was also honored by the cast and the crew of The Walking Dead, who shoot in and around Atlanta for several months a year, though they are not currently on set.
At the conclusion of Season 4, Episode 12: “Still,” a heartfelt dedication came across the screen, reading, “In loving memory of SARAH ELIZABETH JONES”. Many have been more focused on how Sarah was remembered at the Academy Awards, but one TWD watcher snapped a photo of the TWD dedication and posted it to the Slates For Sarah Facebook page, which was set up shortly after her death as a way to honor her memory. The page consists of, in part, photos of numerous slates from a variety of different television shows and movies, each or which remember Sarah in some way.
Sarah worked as the 2nd camera operator on The Vampire Diaries, and a colleague of hers, Warren Brace, tells The Slatethat she was also involved with TWD. “She came out and walked on The Walking Dead,” he revealed.
Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) was one of several TWD cast members who remembered Sarah on social media, tweeting just days after her passing, “My deepest sympathies to Sarah Jones' family, you are in all our hearts. I'm so sorry. @SlateforSarah.”
The cast and crew of TWD often talks about how they are such a tight-knit family, and we’re really proud of them for doing such a kind tribute to one of their own. It’s obvious that Sarah will be greatly missed.
The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
