Ezra is back in school in Season 4, Episode 22 (“Cover For Me”), not that the Liars are overly-excited about it. We’ll have to wait to see the inevitable Ezria reunion as, according to this sneak peek, Aria is off at Syracuse University’s prospective students day, but in the mean time, we get to see the other Liars confront Ezra. And it’s awesomely devastating.
“Emily, class doesn’t start for another few minutes,” Ezra tells Emily in the vid. They are the only two in the classroom, and Emily doesn’t seem to care if she’s making Ezra uncomfortable. She just stares at him, judging. So, he puts down his pen, looks up at her, and continues: “OK, I don’t know how much you know, but knowing how close you are to Aria, I can assume that you know everything. I really want to talk to you about this, Emily, but I would really prefer if it were outside of a classroom.”
Emily doesn’t seem to care what Ezra wants. Instead, she tells him how it’s going to be: “I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’ve already talked to you outside of the classroom. I let you help me with my college essays. You tutored me. You helped me when I lost my girlfriend. Why did you do all of that? What did you get out of it? There’s an assignment due today, but I won’t be staying for the class. Will you make sure a real teacher gets this?” Burn.
This scene was unexpectedly affecting. We’re glad Pretty Little Liars is giving us the Liars’ reaction to this situation, apart from their empathy and sympathy for Aria. They all have relationships with Ezra as their teacher. They’ve all trusted him. Ezra’s betrayal may be felt the keenest by Aria, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t hurt Emily, Hanna, and Spencer, too.
What do you think of the sneak peek? Do you think Emily should give Ezra a chance to explain? Sound off in the comments below!
