Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 8: That Awkward Moment When… (VIDEO)
Pretty Little Liars is action-packed with drama, thrills, and twisted plot lines, but there’s one thing that people fail to mention when talking about the show: all the awkward moments.
Think back through PLL’s four seasons — a lot of uncomfortable things have happened. For example, finding out you made out with your English teacher (and by the way, that “college girl” is only 16), discovering your boyfriend is “A,” or realizing your mom hit a detective (who was hot on your trail) with her car. Those are just a handful of the uncomfortable moments our Liars have had to endure.
Basically, Rosewood is one awkward town, and to honor that (or at least call the Liars out on their weird moments), we’re compiling all of ‘em, one episode at a time. On last night’s episode (Season 4, Episode 8: “The Guilty Girl's Handbook"), one scene wasn’t the most awkward, but it definitely was a little uncomfortable.
Aria calls Jake out of the blue (the last time we saw them together, she was admitting all of her feels for Ezra), and proceeds to question him about her brother, Mike, taking classes from him. He explains that the youngest Montgomery is not getting along with his teammates post-Connor’s car smashing, and Aria freaks out. Jake offers his help, and later, they meet up at her house. Sweet, right? Not exactly.
Just after a promotion ABC Family ran about their Insidious 2 premiere contest (Pretty Little Premiere with star Janel Parrish), the trailer for the movie pops up during their non-date. Aria was trying to apologize for “hijacking” his night, and then suddenly Jake sees it and says, “Insidious 2. Have you seen the first one?” She says she saw it twice, but “this one looks even more terrifying... fun terrifying!” Again, out of the blue, Jake says it’s coming out next weekend and asks if she wants to go, to which Aria quickly sputters, “Sure, it’s a d... sounds good!”
OK, so it was kind of cute, but Aria’s awkward silence after was uncomfortable. Oh, and though she has stood up to “A” and been in much more terrifying situations, we didn’t peg her for a horror movie fan. Alas, product placement.
