Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 8 Questions: Where Is Wren? Who Is Beckett Prye?

We love all of Pretty Little Liars’ constant thrills and surprises, but at the end of every episode, it always seems as though we have more questions than answers — and that was especially true after the most recent episode.

To that end, we’ve tackled the biggest questions from this week’s episode in order to figure out what’s really going on in Rosewood, and to pick up on any and all clues.

Here are 10 questions from Season 4, Episode 8: “The Guilty Girl’s Handbook”!

1. Are Wilden’s death and Marion Cavanaugh’s death connected?

We’ve been waiting for these two mysteries to come together all season and, last night, it seemed like we might finally get some answers about how the death of Toby’s mom fits into the greater “A” game. Eddie Lamb claimed not to know anything more about why Wilden would have changed the police report on Marion Cavanaugh’s death, but we can’t help but think that this connection could be the key to unraveling Wilden’s murder (mostly because Spencer thinks so, too).

2. Does this mean Ashley Marin is out of jail?

We like a good Orange is the New Black reference as much as the next television-watcher, but we have to admit: orange is really not Ashley Marin’s color. Mona may have turned herself in, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the police will believe her or that Ashley will immediately get to walk free. We’ll only be happy when we get to see Mama Marin give Hanna a big hug without one of those prison guards getting testy.

3. Who does the number in Nigel’s phone belong to?

Between his many moments of caring awesomeness, Caleb managed to deliver some expository information in the news that Toby is off in New York hunting down one of the frequent callers in Nigel’s phone. The Liars are speculating that it might be Cece, but we’re not so sure. New York is a big city. Will Toby be able to find the caller? Is it Cece or someone else?

4. Is anyone besides Emily applying for college?

We know that the Liars’ lives are fraught with drama and everything, but Emily seems to be the only character taking her college plans seriously. Spencer even skipped out on English class this episode to check on Hanna. Excellent friend move. Terrible college application one. “A” is a slippery gal. If we were the Liars, we’d focus on having a Plan B (i.e. go to college far, far away from Rosewood) just in case they never expose “A.”

5. Who is this Beckett Prye fellow?

Last night’s episode introduced Beckett Prye, one of Veronica Hastings’ legal minions. Spencer and Beckett totally had a banter thing going, and we couldn’t help but be intrigued by his offer to help Spence return the file she lifted from the Wilden murder files. Perhaps this Beckett could be a good friend to have, but what is his deal? Is there more to Beckett than meets the eye?

6. Where is Wren — and does he know anything about Marion Cavanaugh’s death?

Speaking of Spencer’s boyfriends, where the heck is Wren? He hasn’t been seen skulking around since Season 3, and that makes us nervous. What could he be up to? There seemed to be a strange tension between Eddie and Wren. Could it have something to do with Marion Cavanaugh’s death? Either way, we kind of sort, of miss him. Paging Dr. Kingston.

7. Does Zoe like Emily — and is she sticking around?

Are we the only ones who think volunteer supervisor Zoe (Rumer Willis) has a thing for Emily? I mean, the girl called up that glam picture of Emily the Builder rather quickly. And she dropped by out-of-the-way Rosewood as soon as Emily called. Also, pretty much everyone has a thing for Emily. Will Zoe be back? And what might Paige have to say about it?

8. Why did Mona turn herself in?

We love the evil genius that is Mona, but we’re never really sure what her motives are for doing anything. We’d like to believe that she turned herself in to save her friend the misery of a) doing it herself and being convicted of murder or b) watching her mother be convicted of murder. Could Mona be acting selflessly, perhaps driven by the guilt for her role in the “A” game? Or is this part of a bigger, nefarious plan that she’s implementing?

9. What is Mike Montgomery up to?

Mike Montgomery is taking martial arts classes and putting in some serious time “with the team.” Is this just for his own social standing or is he up to something? After Connor’s car was vandalized, he insisted he didn’t do it, and we kind of believe him. But he did mention something about being ready next time something happened to Aria. Does he know anything about “A,” or is he just picking up on the fact that a lot of terrible things seem to happen to Aria? Either way, we’re glad he’s back in Season 4.

10. How will we survive Caleb’s departure?

Caleb really stepped up his awesome boyfriend game in last night’s episode. In addition to making sure Hanna didn’t turn herself in for murder, he also checked in on her friends and her mother all in less than a day. It’s like the show is making us fall in love with him even more before ripping him from our PLL clutches. Will we be able to handle his departure to Ravenswood?

Did we cover all of your burning questions, PLL fans? Or are there still some on your list? Sound off in the comments!
