It’s been a few months since The Walking Dead fans were treated to an epic teaser for Season 4 of the hit show at San Diego Comic-Con 2013, and the sneak peek coupled with the hour-long panel have gotten us really excited for what’s to come. However, there was one thing blatantly missing from the 4:26 gem: The Governor!
Though the Gov’s portrayer, David Morrissey, was front and center during the show’s July 19 panel, he was conspicuously absent from the lengthy trailer. Seeing as how everyone took note of his absence, we started to wonder if The Governor may be dead come the start of Season 4 — especially since David was recently cast in AMC's Line of Sight.
According to TVLine, the Governor is very much alive in Season 4, even if his role isn’t as prominent this time around.
“I can tell you that he’ll have a major presence in at least two Season 4 episodes, both of which are being unofficially billed as ‘standalone Governor’ installments,” Michael Ausiello told a curious reader. “No specific intel on when those episodes will air, but I hear they’ll likely fall in the first chunk of eight (premiering Sunday, Oct. 13).”
So while we may not see the Governor facing off with the prison gang just yet, it’s clear that he still plays a pivotal role this season, possibly one that includes staging revenge from afar!
