The Walking Dead Season 4: Would Maggie Approve of a Beth and Daryl Romance? (VIDEO)

Comic book creator and Walking Dead executive producer Robert Kirkman has all but confirmed that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) won’t enter in a romantic relationship (at least not yet) — but when the actress who plays Beth’s on-screen sister, Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene), was on Talking Dead last Sunday, one fan asked her if she thought Maggie would approve of Daryl and Beth’s relationship.

“Yeah I do think she would, actually. I’m enjoying, as an audience member, watching this happen,” Lauren answered. “I think that there’s something that you don’t know to the end of the world that you might find in somebody else. I don’t know if this is a friendship, I don’t know what this is going to teach each of them, but there are sides to each of those characters that are just so rewarding that we’re getting to.”

Now that Beth has been taken by a mysterious group driving a car and Daryl’s joined Joe’s (Jeff Kober) group of marauders, a Beryl romance seems even less likely. Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick also brought up the point that Maggie and Glenn Rhee’s (Steven Yeun) relationship has lead to plenty of heartache, but Lauren prefers to see that glass half full.

“Look what purpose it’s giving her, and look at all the rewards of the love that she’s in with Glenn,” Lauren notes. “I think that her sister is young...but we’ve gotten to see luckily in the last couple of episodes that Beth really has a head on her shoulders. She’s very, very, strong-willed and her and Daryl have been able to teach each other so much. He’s training her with a crossbow and preparing her for things and she even says, ‘I’d be OK if you died, you know.’”

Beth has been exhibiting an inner strength we didn’t even know she had, and hopefully that serves her well as she leaves Daryl behind and is forced to get accustomed to life with her kidnappers.

Lauren wouldn't say what the future holds for Beth, but she concluded by making it clear that she does approve of whatever Beth and Daryl have going on. “I think there’s a lot that they’re teaching each other, it’s good. We’ll see,” she said
