The Walking Dead Season 4 Makes “50 Best TV Scenes” List — Agree With Choices?
What scene stood out most to you from The Walking DeadSeason 4? You may have picked the same one as Entertainment Weekly, which just listed its choices for The Fifty Best TV Scenes of the year.
What TWD scene made the cut, and where did it rank?
As you might’ve guessed, it was the look at the flowers scene where Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) killed Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) in Season 4, Episode 14, “The Grove.” EW ranked it at No. 20, and here’s why they chose it for the list: “From the very first episode of TWD, it’s been clear that even the young are not safe in the apocalypse. but four seasons in, Carol’s decision to shoot her ‘adopted’ daughter Lizzie is still one of the drama’s most shocking moments.”
We definitely agree that Carol vs. Lizzie belongs on a list of best TV scenes of the year. Can’t say we agree with putting it after scenes from, say, the new series Fargo and The Mindy Project. TWD probably belonged higher on the list than No. 20, but we’re biased.
If you’re curious, EW’s pick for the No. 1 scene was Walt trying to get his family to run on Breaking Bad. No. 2 was Tyrion’s speech while on trial in the current season of Game of Thrones. No. 3 was Will confronting Alicia on The Good Wife.
Read the new issue for the full list of scenes, but here are the top 20 shows they were from:
1. Breaking Bad
2. Game of Thrones
3. The Good Wife
4. True Detective
6. Orange Is the New Black
8. Masters of Sex
10. The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
11. House of Cards
13. American Horror Story: Coven
14. Saturday Night Live
16. The Mindy Project
17. Mad Men
19. The Big Bang Theory
20. The Walking Dead
That doesn’t list all of the scenes — and there are plenty more after TWD in the 50 mentioned — but are you surprised at where TWD ranked?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
