The Walking Dead Season 4: Mid-Season Premiere Date Announced!

We can't stand the wait for The Walking Dead's mid-season return, but at least now we have a mid-season premiere date! While closing out Talking Dead for Season 4 Episode 8: "Too Far Gone," host Chris Hardwick gave us the date for our calendars: Sunday, February 9, 2013. You'd better believe we're circling that date in red — plus adding a phone alarm, and maybe making a needlepoint. One can never take too many precautions against missing the triumphant return of super-hot tank-destroyer Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). As usual, The Walking Dead airs at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.

Of course, there's being excited to see our favorite characters again, and there's making sure our favorite characters are even alive. After The Governor (David Morrissey)'s brutal assault on The Prison, our heroes were separated. While some rode away to safety in a bus, some are on foot. Some are in packs, and some are in tiny groups. Daryl was running away from the battle with Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) the last time we saw them, for example, while Rick Grimes and Carl Grimes partake in the worst kind of father/son bonding on their own. Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr) is under the not-so-expert medical care of Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) after getting shot in the shoulder.

There's a lot that we need to check up on, and we're not sure we can stand to wait until February! But wait we must. In the words of both Rick and The Gov., we have no choice.

What are you going to while you wait for The Walking Dead to return? Commiserate with us in the comments!
