Music From Game of Thrones Season 4: What Songs Are Featured on the Show?

When Game of Thrones characters aren’t making power plays or killing people, they have a tendency to break into song. Usually alcohol is involved with more than one of our favorite Thrones stars having been carried away by the music while in their cups during the past three seasons.

One song we know for sure to expect come Season 4 is a cover of that classic wedding number, “The Rains of Castamere.” Icelandic group Sigur Ros recorded a new rendition of the song, which has already been performed once before on the show by The National during, you know, that wedding. As we saw tonight, that song was performed on Season 4 Episode 2 ("The Lion and the Rose") at another fateful wedding. It also played over the credits.

Sigur Ros is just the latest to join an impressive roster of stars who’ve lent their voices to the world of George R.R. Martin. Past contributors have included The National and also The Hold Steady, who recorded “The Bear and the Maiden Fair,” while members of both Coldplay and Snow Patrol have guest starred on the series.

What did you think of the Sigur Ros version of "The Rains of Castamere"? Do you like that the show uses famous artists? Let us know in the comments below!
