New The Walking Dead Season 4 Promo: Michonne and Beth Cry, But Where’s Judith? (VIDEO)

If only The Walking Dead Season 4 survivors had been able to grab some tissues before fleeing the prison in Episode 8.

AMC just released a new 30-second promo for the second half of the season, which starts February 9, and it shows both Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) breaking down in anguish.

Beth just lost her father, Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), and she probably has no idea where her sister Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) went when the prison was overrun. But at least she has Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) .

Michonne sobs after clearing a huge group of walkers. It looks like she is on her own, so maybe Tyreese does have Judith ... or just someone else has the baby.

We also see clips from previously aired promos, including Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) both looking roughed up, although not together.

(Who is that wearing the prison riot gear, running out of the area with what looks like Tara? Was that Glenn? Did he go back to the prison to find Maggie or something? Those clips are new, but they're so fast it's hard to see what's happening.)

It sounds like Rick is the one who says "I know we'll never get things back to the way they used to be," later adding, "we're survivors." (Or was that first part from someone else? The voice sounds deeper, but maybe that's just Rick in pain.) We hear a repeat of part of his speech to The Governor in the midseason finale, including, "It's not gonna be easy. We're not too far gone."

AMC also released this description for the back half:

"Following the devastating events of the mid-season finale, Rick and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family, and friends. With the destruction of the prison, we see the group of survivors broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else's fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested -- a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others."

Episode 9 is supposed to have a lot of Rick and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) footage, so anything you see of Carl may be from that return ep.

It definitely looks like things won’t be easy for the former Team Prison. The second half is mean to start “bleak” but get “more hopeful” toward the end of the season.

Are you excited to see what happens next? By the way, here's a link to the promo's "Bad Moon Rising" song.

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
