Game of Thrones Season 4 Hits Record-High Ratings Again!

Game of Thrones continues to reign supreme as it hits the halfway mark in its latest season.

The HBO darling delivered record ratings again for its May 4 episode, “First of His Name.” More than 7 million viewers tuned in to see the first airing at 9 p.m., totaling 8.6 million by the end of Sunday evening as folks tuned in for encores, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Things are only looking up for Game of Thrones as it continues Season 4. This week’s record ratings mark the fourth consecutive time the show’s climbed in viewership and was the third series-high record in a row. For the season, an average of nearly 18 million viewers have tuned in thus far across various platforms, a 24 percent jump from last year’s installment.

Those kinds of numbers would make even the Master of the Coin smile if, you know, he wasn’t currently battling for his life as a prisoner of his vindictive sister and questionably ethical father. Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) story is only going to get more interesting as the season progresses while other characters Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), to name a few — forge ahead on their respective quests.

Want to know what’s ahead for the back half of Season 4? We’ve got spoilers galore but, like we said, spoilers ahead.
