On the Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Halloween episode, we finally got really, solid, inarguable evidence that Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) is, in fact, alive. Like, she stood there in that red coat, talking to the Liars, and they all saw her. While we saw this twist coming a season away, we still love that the writers followed through on all of their hints in this direction.

Why? Well, here are just a few of the reasons we think Ali being alive will be a boon for the show:

It explains so many clues. Yes, none of the clues pointing to Ali being alive were definitive. The Liars could all have hallucinated her all-too-real appearances. Just because she got out of the ground didn't mean she lasted the night. The hints that she was preparing for something really bad before her disappearance didn't necessarily mean she found a way to avoid her fate. Someone else could have learned the Liars' many secrets. We could go on.

However, nothing we could think of pulls all of the hints and clues togethers as satisfyingly as Ali having defied death. We're glad that show stuck to its guns and gave us this answer.

It's a twist worthy of the show. Sure, by this point we were clearly supposed to suspect the truth, so the revelation that Ali is alive wasn't a jaw-on-the-floor moment like Toby being the so-called betrAyer or Ezra maybe being "A". However, Ali being alive is a big, bold move that turns the basic premise of the show inside-out while still making a fair amount of sense. That's the kind of feeling we wanted from the Red Coat reveal, and the show delivered.

Ali being around will be awesome. More than anything, the reason we're happy Ali is alive is that we think it will re-energize the show. There are so many places to go from here, and we'd be excited about any of them. Ali is one of the most fascinating, mysterious, and idiosyncratic characters on the show, and we can't wait to see what kind of mischief she'll get up to now.
