The Walking Dead Season 4 Sneak Peek Analysis: Michonne Vs. Walkers

When they said sneak "peek" they meant it. Last night (August 25), AMC aired a 45-second teaser clip from The Walking Dead Season 4, which starts October 13.

Unlike the extended trailer, this abbreviated scene doesn't tell us much about what’s going to happen, although we do see Michonne (Danai Gurira) on her new mode of transportation — a horse named Flame.

She's returning to the prison from being out somewhere, and Carl (Chandler Riggs) opens the gate to let her in. But a few walkers who had been lingering outside try to crash the party. Michonne struggles to push them back and Carl and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) run to help. Carl has a gun but he's not in a good position to shoot.

This is a hint to the more dangerous walkers we've been warned about. They're supposedly getting smarter too, so even the simple act of leaving the prison and returning becomes a big deal.

What was Michonne out doing, do you think? Supply run? She didn't seem to bring back much. Survey of the area to find walker herds or other humans? Out trying to find The Governor? We know she’s going to be obsessed with tracking him down this season after what he did to Andrea.

Whatever she was doing, how Old West-cool is it to have Michonne ride her horse back into town! You can hear her whistle to Carl as a signal that she's back and he should open the gate. Then when she stops Flame with a "whoa, boy" she starts fighting walkers. She's a female John Wayne with zombies.

Any guesses on what we’ll see before or after this scene? Do you wish they had shown us something else, or something more, or do you like when the teases give you just enough to be curious without giving too much away?
