Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoiler: Will Tywin Lannister Die?

While Joffrey Baratheon is still number one on most Game of Thrones fans' hit lists, hatred for the overbearing Tyrion Lannister shot through the roof after it was revealed that he orchestrated the entire Red Carpet 2012. He may not share his grandson's bloodlust, but his cold, calculating method of brutally murdering anyone who stands in his family's way makes him at least as terrifying.

Will those hoping to see the Starks avenged have satisfaction in Season 4, or will the wicked continue to profit over the noble in Westeros? While we can't say for sure, based on what happens in the A Song of Ice and Fire books series, we have a very good guess about whether or not Tywin will make it out of next year alive.

The answer: The man's a goner. It's a bummer for those of us who love watching Charles Dance steal every scene he's in, but karma starts to take a toll on the Lannisters in the second half of A Storm of Swords, which is the part of A Song of Ice and Fire Season 4 is said to be based on.

So, how does the seemingly unbeatable Tywin meet his end? At the hands of his most disparaged son. It's quite poetic, really.

Tyrion, who by this point in the story has been accused of murder and sentenced to die — it's complicated — is set free by his brother. Jaime, in a moment of guilt, unburdens himself of a great secret: Tyrion's first wife, Tysha, was not a whore that Jaime hired; she really did love Tyrion and wanted to marry him, and Tywin had her gang rapped for it.

Unsurprisingly, this news prompts Tyrion to take a little detour as he's fleeing the castle. He goes to Tywin's room, where he finds Shae in his bed (something we have a hard time imagining TV Shae doing, so it might be changed), kills her, and then tracks down his father on the toilet, where he murders him with a crossbow.

While the exact details of these events might change, we're pretty confident Tywin will die at the hands of Tyrion before Season 4 is done.

The good news for Charles Dance fans is that we should get to see him for most of the season. His death happens at the very end of the King's Landing segment of the book, and we wouldn't be surprised if it were held until the last episode of the season, or at least one pretty far along.
