Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoilers: Does Cersei Die?

As any fan of Game of Thrones knows, no character is safe. Main characters can die at a moment’s notice, no matter how popular they are amongst fans. So, should we be worried (or excited) about the fate of the show’s queen of mean, Cersei in Season 4? The A Song of Ice and Fire book series provides the likely answer.

Only the good die young, right? If Billy Joel is correct, then Cersei shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Except for one thing: She’s not that young. Lots of people hate Cersei, and would love to see her head on a spike, so should she be concerned heading into Season 4?

While Cersei is currently in a position of power, that doesn’t offer much protection in Westeros. Her late husband, King Robert, was killed by a boar. The powerful Khal Drogo died from a flesh wound. Lord Commander Mormont was slain by his own men. If anything, being top dog puts Cersei more in the line of fire than if she were just some lowly peasant. So who should she watch out for?

We think Cersei’s main enemy at this point has got to be Arya Stark. Cersei’s name is in Arya’s top three on her kill list, along with Joffrey and Ilyn Payne, and Arya is quickly blossoming into a cold blooded killer. Did you see what she did to that Frey soldier in the Season 3 finale? And she just met that guy! Just imagine what she’ll do if she ever runs into Cersei!

Unfortunately for all you Lannister-haters out there, Cersei doesn’t perish in Season 4, unless the show makes a wild departure from the books. She’s going to have some major setbacks though, and we’ll see a different Cersei from here on out. A less in control, more paranoid one. Why is that? First she’s going to lose her son, then she’s going to lose her father, after that she’s going to lose her lover, and eventually, probably in Season 5, she’s going to lose her mind. So even though she lives through the season, she may almost prefer that she didn’t.

Are you happy that Cersei lives to see Season 5? Sound off in the comments!
