Game of Thrones Season 4: Does The Hound Die?

Arya's been sayng the names on her kill list before bed for as long as we can remember, but tonight on the Game of Season 4 finale, the murderous Stark passed on the opportunity to put down The Hound. Instead, she left Sandor Clegane to die slowly and painfully from the fall he suffered in a fight with Brienne of Tarth (a bit of a departure from the events in the book). The question is... does The Hound die?

Though the way The Hound got his injuries in the Season 4 finale was very different from the book, the fallout is pretty much identical. In the books, The Hound gets really drunk, seeing no better option given his current situation of being unemployed, an outlaw, and having a prisoner that he can’t ransom to anyone. While getting loaded in a tavern, the Hound comes across a few of his brother’s men, who decide to start a rumble. The Hound kills the men with some help from Arya, but he suffers some pretty nasty wounds.

While traveling, the Hound essentially gives up on life. He asks Arya to kill him to put him out of his misery, but she refuses electing instead to let him suffer and leaving him to die. His fate remains unknown, with conflicting evidence in the books on whether he lives or dies. While we don’t expect anything concrete next season, we assume that's the last we’ll see of the Hound for at least the next season

Do you think The Hound is dead, or will he pull through some how?
