Now that we’ve gotten some space from the “Ezra is ‘A’” reveal, it’s a lot easier to look at this thing intellectually rather than solely emotionally. In deciding that Ezra (Ian Harding) is “A,” we make a lot of assumptions about the concluding scene in the summer finale. First and foremost, we’re assuming that the lair belongs to Ezra. However, ET Online talked to Ian about the possibility of the lair belonging to someone other than Ezra. Here’s what the actor had to say...
“There were certain questions I had for the writers. I mean, he must never sleep! He's grading papers while simultaneously tracking girls from another town. I don't know how he does it, he's Superman,” Ian dished. “But the response from the writers was, ‘Well, we think this is his lair...’ So it might not be. I think there's something to be revealed when it comes to the whole process of following the girls. If it's his, Ezra's an awesome genius.”
So, it seems this is still very much a question mark for the actor, which is interesting. The fact that he still doesn’t know makes us think that the issue won’t be fully addressed for well into Season 4B, as Ian and the rest of the cast have filmed through Episode 16 at this point. Of course, that doesn’t mean the lair might not still belong to Ezra. His reaction in storming into it was decidedly one of anger rather than surprise.
If the lair doesn’t belong to Ezra, then who might it belong to? There’s a crazy fan theory that Ezra has an evil twin that is gaining some traction. There’s also the possibility that the lair belongs to CeCe Drake, who seemed to miraculously dodge death in the summer finale. Other candidates? Wren is always top of our list. We saw him following Hanna and Caleb in Season 4, Episode 10: “The Mirror Has Three Faces,” and, when Spencer went to his apartment earlier in the summer finale, he had moved out. The Liars think he’s in London, but could he have holed up at his lair instead?
Do you think the lair belongs to Ezra? If not, whose is it? Sound off in the comments below!
