Update: If you have yet to watch The Walking Dead Season 4 mid-season finale, then we have no idea why you are on this page. Seriously. Don't say we didn't warn you.
There was a time when it seemed like The Governor would just not die, but tonight we finally said goodbye to him for good. He kidnapped Michonne and Hershel, decapitating the latter in front of his children and much of Team Prison. Michonne was able to free herself in the midst of all the tumult, and as The Governor was strangling Rick, Michonne sliced him with her katana. Just in case that wasn't enough, Lily shot him in the mid-season finale's final moments, sealing his fate. See ya later, Governor!
After we first caught a glimpse of The Governor (David Morrissey) in The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 5: “Internment” we knew he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon (at least not without a fight) and we were right!
Season 4, Episode 6: “Live Bait” was the first of The Governor’s two standalone installments, and we know that he will also play a big role in the mid-season finale, “Too Far Gone”, which is scheduled to air on December 1. We’re gearing up for some kind of face-off between The Gov. and Rick Grimes, (Andrew Lincoln) since The Gov. has his heart set on the prison, but with “Brian’s” new attitude (he can love again!) we have no idea how the showdown would go.
Of course it's likely there will be some knockdown, drag-out fight with at least one gut-wrenching death, but is The Gov. the one who will meet his maker on Dec. 1?
According to David Morrissey, not so much!
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the British actor confirmed that his on-screen counterpart appears in the remainder of TWD Season 4. “I am,” he said when directly asked if he’s featured in the rest of the season. “We've been down in Georgia, you know this time of year, that fall. It's just a great place to be. The trees and the temperature and everything is just gorgeous this time of year, it's so beautiful.”
That sounds like a pretty big spoiler to us, but we must admit that we’re kinda happy to hear that The Gov. isn’t going anywhere just yet...he’s kinda starting to grow on us!
But if The Governor doesn’t meet his maker in the mid-season finale, then that means we can resume worrying about all of our old favorites since we’re fairly certain at least one central croaks in Episode 8.
