Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoilers: Does Melisandre Die?

As any fan of Game of Thrones knows, no character is safe. Main characters can die at a moment’s notice, no matter how popular they are amongst fans. So, should we be worried about the fate of the red priestess, Melisandre, in Season 4? The A Song of Ice and Fire book series provides the likely answer.

When we last saw Melisandre, she was pretty happy that her trick with Gendry and the leeches seemed to cause Robb Stark’s death (damn you, leeches!), but remember, there are still two other leeches with two other king’s names attached to them. Therefore, expect to see the demise of both Balon Greyjoy and Joffrey Baratheon fairly early this season. With Mel being responsible for all of these kings’ deaths (at least if you believe in her magic), does that mean that someone’s going to toss a leech into a fire for Melisandre?

Mel doesn’t really seem like she’s too scared of anything, probably because she has the ability to birth shadow demon babies. Next season she’s going to find herself in a new setting though, when she and Stannis start calling the Wall home. Will Melisandre find that place of cold and ice less than inviting for one as hooked on fire as she?

Not likely. Melisandre doesn’t care where she goes. She’s magic, and she has faith in her god and in Stannis, so she’s going to adapt no matter where she goes. In fact, she’s going to end up being even more powerful at the Wall, since the Wall has magic woven into it. Or something. She’s also going to gain a new bestie in Jon Snow, and she’s going to maybe start to think that he’s the savior she’s been looking for, not Stannis. Clearly she’s into the strong and silent types!

So if you’re worried about Melisandre, don’t be. She should still have plenty of screen time in the upcoming season(s) unless the show really veers off from the books, and we’re going to get to see her do some more crazy magic stuff. The night may be dark and full of terrors, but she’s going to steer clear of every danger she comes across.

Are you happy that Melisandre lives to see Season 5? Sound off in the comments!
