A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin dished to E! about the anticipated event, saying, “Well, we have another wedding, a bigger wedding. 77 courses and all of the royal kingdom has assembled and it's supposed to be pretty amazing.”
Hmmm... Sound like they show is actually keeping the 77 courses from the novel’s description of the wedding. Will they also feature the seven singers, with one of them singing a song containing 77 verses? If so, the episode may run a little long...
George went on to confirm that the wedding scene has already been filmed, “We just finished filming it in Croatia. I unfortunately couldn't attend myself because they have me chained at my desk writing the next book, but from all the reports it was spectacular.”
So, two major pieces of information we can glean from this quote: The royal wedding is going to be spectacular — no surprise there — and, perhaps more importantly George is actually working on the next book in the series! This is pretty big news, and though his bit about being chained to the desk was likely a metaphor, it at least signifies he’s serious about getting the book finished. More books equals more show, and that’s going to be good for everyone!
