Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoilers: What We Learn From the “Secrets” Trailer

HBO has released yet another trailer for Game of Thrones Season 4 and in it, we get some new footage of what’s coming up in the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. And that new footage actually tells us a lot if we combine it with what we know from the A Song of Ice and Fire book series. So what new tidbits do we actually uncover? Read on to find out!

Warning: This article contains MAJOR spoilers from the A Song of Ice and Fire book series. Click away now if you don't want to know!

Joffrey gets a fancy new sword. The first thing we see in the trailer is Joffrey pulling a flashy sword from its scabbard. We’re quite certain this is one of two Valyrian steel blades made by Tywin (the other is given to Jaime) and will likely make an appearance in the first episode of the season, appropriately titled, “Two Swords.”

A Bolton family reunion. While it looks like Michael couldn’t make it, we do see Roose Bolton and his bastard son Ramsay together for the first time at 0:08, possibly at Winterfell. This could be interesting, because Theon's storyline is a bit out of sync with the books.

Littlefinger teaches someone his tricks. Starting at 0:30, we hear a Littlefinger narration in which he’s telling someone to “always keep your foes confused.” Since we know he’s going to whisk Sansa away this season, it’s very likely that she is the one receiving his lesson.

Dany launches a serious attack on Mereen. At 0:45, we see Dany taking a much more direct approach to invasion compared to her previous efforts, as trebuchets launch projectiles over the walls of Mereen.

We’re going to Braavos. At 0:55, we see the unmistakable Titan of Braavos, the massive sea-straddling statue that welcomes visitors to the Free City. This will be our first look at Braavos, and there are two reasons why we could be visiting the city next season. The first reason would be to get a look at Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss), a representative of the Iron Bank of Braavos, before he heads to Westeros. The second reason is that Braavos is the next destination in Arya’s journey, and we could see her arrive there by season’s end.
