Pretty Little Liars’ boy next door, Toby (Keegan Allen), is still a relative question mark. Sure, he loves Spencer and joined the “A” Team to try to keep her safe, but what secrets does Toby’s past hold? It sounds like we’re going to find out in Season 4!
"Toby goes through a pretty emotional path of his past," Keegan told TV Guide. "I get to finally find out more about him and more about some really insane secrets of his past that are heart-wrenching." Finally. We’ve been wondering what passed between Toby and Ali since that tense juvie scene in Season 3. And what is the deal with his mother? Nurse Eddie Lamb implied she stayed at Radley. Could she have something to do with this “A” business? We hope Toby doesn’t fall too far. Word on the street is that he is going to get sucked back into the “vortex of ‘A’” in Season 4. Yikes!
At least Toby won’t be alone. According to Keegan, no one is safe in Season 4: “Coming back, we are sleuthing and trying to find out more answers to these secrets, and the characters are now in a place where everybody’s kind of being tormented by ‘A.’ Everybody is. And it’s to a point where this is bigger than they expected from the very beginning.”
Aside from his own character’s emotional journey in Season 4, Keegan is also a fan of Mona’s (Janel Parrish) storyline. His fellow ex “A”-Teamer will also be Team Liar come Season 4, joining forces with the girls to uncover “A”’s true identity. Keegan says it is especially interesting “to see her so vulnerable and to see what really is happening behind those closed doors, that she really doesn’t know who Red Coat is.”
When the show returns, Keegan said all of the girls are convinced that Red Coat is Alison. But is all what it seems? We wouldn’t start throwing in the towel just yet, PLL speculators! Keegan also said the theme of the entire fourth season is the struggle to determine what it real and what is fake. It isn’t over until the small blonde Liar sings!
What secrets does Toby’s past hold? Will he manage to stay on Team Liars in Season 4 or will he be pulled back into “A”’s clutches? Sound off with your theories in the comments below!
