The Governor (David Morrissey) may have been rocking some serious facial hair at the start of The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 6: “Live Bait”, but at least one TWD cast member has been told that facial hair is absolutely off limits so long as he is on the AMC show!
Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee) stopped by the Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson last week and revealed that he’s been told not to grow a mustache, despite the fact that he was sporting a bit of peach fuzz on his upper lip during the interview.
“This is a long time of work,” he said about the layer of hair warming his upper lip. “It’s like maybe a week or two.”
Craig sympathized with Steven’s inability to grow facial hair quickly, noting that he suffers from the same problem. Although, according to many of Steven’s co-workers, the fact that he has difficulty growing facial hair may actually be a blessing in disguise.
“I tried to grow a mustache on our show, and Denise Huth — our producer — will not let me do it because she says it’s disgusting.”
Seeing as how Steven was just named one of People’s sexiest men alive, we can’t see him ever looking that disgusting, though we think Denise has the right idea with the mustache ban for Steven. Sorry buddy, some people just look better clean-shaven!
Why does the Walking Dead actor want a fuzzy face anyway? “There’s some study that men with longer hair and facial hair that they can sense more. That it’s another organ that can sense things.”
Check out the clip below for yourself and then tell us how you prefer Steven’s face: bare or scruffy?
The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
