Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Summer Finale: Do You Trust Ms. Grunwald?

Everyone is still trying to wrap their minds around the idea that Ezra is "A", but that wasn't the only big revelation on Pretty Little Liars Season 4 summer finale (Season 4, Episode 12: “Now You See Me, Now You Don’t”). The Liars also learned a huge secret about the night Ali died — that she didn't actually die! That is, if you believe Ms. Grunwald. That's a big "if."

The mysterious Carla Grunwald found the girls near the end of the episode, telling them they need to get out of Ravenswood before they lead "him" — "him" being "A", or so the show implied — straight to Ali. Because, yes, according to her Ali is totally alive and in hiding.

See, according to Grunwald, Ali was calling her at the sorority house the summer before she disappeared. Why? Because Ms. Grunwald has some sort of second sight/soothsayer intuition, and Ali needed her help figuring out who was stalking her. Then, on the night when Ali was supposedly killed, Ms. Grunwald got a bad feeling, rushed over to Rosewood, and found Ali "reaching for life" after being buried alive. Ms. Grunwald rescued her and took her to the hospital, where Ali promptly disappeared, 'cause hey, it's Ali.

We know the Ravenswood spin-off has a supernatural bent, so it's possible Grunwald is totally telling the truth, and her powers are a bit of that Ravenswood magic slipping into the Pretty Little Liars world. On the other hand, this whole story could be a pack of lies. So far, we have no way of confirming it, and for all we know Grunwald is on "A"'s payroll.
