The Walking Dead Season 4: Should Carol Have Told Tyreese the Truth About Karen’s Death?

In The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 14: “The Grove”, Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and

Tyreese (Chad Coleman) had enough on their plates after Lizzie Samuels (Brighton Sharbino) killed her sister Mika Samuels (Kyla Kenedy). This led Carol to proactively shoot Lizzie since she was a clear danger to others — but to our surprise that wasn’t even the last shock of the hour. In “The Grove’s” final minutes Carol told Tyreese that she was the one who killed his girlfriend Karen, not Lizzie as he suspected.

During the March 23 episode of TWD — Season 4, Episode 15: “Us” — we asked Viggle LIVE users if Carol should have told Ty the truth about Karen’s death, and the results most certainly surprised us!

93 percent of responders felt that Carol “needed” to confess to her travel companion, while only 7 percent disagreed with her decision to tell Tyreese the truth because there was no telling how he’d react.

Those of you in the majority are in good company. Actress Melissa McBride felt that the only way Carol and Tyreese could have moved forward was if she told him what really happened to Karen. “For one, if we’re going to keep going together, there needs to be trust,” Melissa explains. “Even more important than that, he needs to know what happened because Carol remembers not knowing what happened to Sophia. And she says, ‘That was the worst part. The worst part is not knowing.’ And she can only imagine what was going on in Tyreese’s mind, imagining what might have gone down with Karen, and how it happened, and who did it eating away with him. And with that going on in his mind she knows they can’t keep moving if he’s continuously thinking about what may have happened. That needs to be done.”

Do you agree with Melissa and the majority of Viggle users that a confession from Carol was necessary, or do you still think it was a risky move? Vote below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 finale airs Sunday, March 30, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
