Pretty Little Liars Season 4: When Will the Girls Learn Ezra is “A”?

With the Liars closing in, how long can Ezra (Ian Harding) keep his double life as “A” a secret?! Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King talked to Entertainment Weekly post-summer finale on that very subject. Here’s what she had to say…

According to Marlene, the PLL Powers That Be are breaking the stories that will focus on uncovering Ezra’s secret right now, and “one of the Liars will start to suspect early on.” More specifically, a Liar that is not Aria (Lucy Hale).

Whichever one of the other three Liars it is, Marlene said she is having a hard time finding proof, and an even harder time working up the courage to tell Aria. Apparently, it’s kind of awkward to walk up to one of your BFF and tell her, “The love of your life is Uber ‘A.’” We recommend fast-like-a-Bandaid, but apparently Marlene disagrees: “It’s going to be a journey,” she said.

Usually, we always bet on Spencer (Troian Bellisario) when it comes to uncovering deception, but this time our money is on Hanna (Ashley Benson). Remember how she grabbed something from “A”’s lair and stashed it in her purse in the summer finale? Well, the item is coming back into play in Season 4B in a big way.

“That something is revealed in the 4B premiere, and that becomes a great vehicle for the girls to find out more answers about Uber “A” and Alison,” said Marlene. It will also, apparently, lead to some Ezra-centered flashbacks. Finally! We want to know what Ezra was like pre-Rosewood, especially given...recent developments.

Marlene did spill the secret that someone does know that Ezra is “A.” “There’s at least one person who knows it, probably more than one, and you will find out the identity of that person in season 4B,” said Marlene. Eek! We wonder if that other person could be Maggie, who Ezra recently discovered lied when she said Ezra was 7-year-old Malcolm’s biological father. We thought that meant we wouldn’t be subjected to her presence any longer, but, according to Marlene, Maggie will be back for Season 4B. Gross.

How long do you think Ezra will be able to keep his secret? Which one of the Liars do you think will uncover his secret identity? Share your theories in the comments below!
