We finally have our first glimpse at the Pretty Little Liars winter premiere (Season 4, Episode 14: “Who’s in the Box”) — and its well worth the wait! ETonline has a simmering scene between Ezra (Ian Harding) and Mona (Janel Parrish)! What are the two baddies talking about?
The scene is set in downtown Rosewood where Mona stumbles upon (though, knowing her, it was anything but coincidental) a book-perusing Ezra. She strikes up conversation about his recent reading assignment in class: “I wanted to tell you: I’m having a lovely time with Jekyll & Hyde. It’s just so gruesome, in a really good way.”
“Oh, I’m happy you’re enjoying it,” Ezra says, his usual polite and friendly self — or at least the self Rosewood generally gets to see (you see where Mona is going with this Jekyll & Hyde thing?).
The two agree that they’re both happy Ezra is back teaching, but Mona elaborates: “Spencer and Emily think you’re the best. So does Aria. I’m a little envious … Of the other girls. The support they get. How they depend on you. Makes me think how much better I’d be doing if I found the right mentor.” Ezra gives Mona the friendliest calculating stare we’ve ever seen. And, end scene.
We have to admit, we weren’t sure if we would enjoy the “Ezra as ‘A’” storyline playing out, but this scene was awesome — wrought with so much subtext. Does Mona know Ezra is “A”? It certainly sounds like it. Actually, it sounds like she wants classes on how to up her own “A” game. So much for staying Team Liars!
As for Ezra, does he know that Mona might know? Have these two met before? Ah, so many questions! But in that glorious, brain-tickling way PLL manages to pull off so well. This scene just glimpsed our excitement for the winter premiere a million-fold — and we were already pretty psyched.
