For some reason, Abby Lee Miller decided that Dance Moms wasn’t dramatic enough with just the conflict between herself and those meddling mamas. The dance director is throwing another wrench into the upcoming second half of Season 4 by provoking a rivalry between her original ALDC members and those freshly added newbies — she’s featuring them both!
In other words, the OG dancers aren’t being replaced, they just have to share screen (and stage) time with the other little ladies, plucked out of obscurity during Abby’s multi-city audition tour earlier in Season 4. Apparently, the original intent of the search was for the reality star to find a new cast for spin-off Abby Lee’s Ultimate Dance Competition, but that got put on hold.
"What I was suggesting [to the network] was that we go around the country and do four mega-conventions, workshops, masterclasses that I do anyway on my own," Abby tells Zap2It. "I wanted to cut all of that in and do it bigger, on a grander scale, to find the next cast of 'Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition.' ... But when ['Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition'] got put on hold for me to do this new show, 'Abby's Studio Rescue,' we decided that because all the plans were made, we needed to use the kids for a new team, so that's how that happened."
Way to make the most out of a bad situation! The idea of Maddie, Chloe, and the gang being left to defend their turf is almost too much to handle. And they will be going head to head! According to Abby, when the back half of the season begins shooting (it apparently hasn’t yet), "both teams are going to be here some of the weeks.
"Some of the weeks it will be me going up against Cathy,” the Lifetime star explains. “Some weeks it will be the original team and I might bring in a kid from the new team to dance with them."
There’s still no date for the premiere of Dance Moms Season 4B, but in the mean time, head over here to meet all of the new girls that will be joining the ranks!
