The Vampire Diaries Season 5: 3 Things We Want For Jeremy

The Vampire DiariesJeremy (Steven R. McQueen) may not have two Salvatore brothers wrapped around his finger, but he may just be our favorite Gilbert. He’s a loyal brother, friend, and boyfriend who has evolved from emo teenager to badass vampire hunter. He’s died more than his fair share, yet still managed to stay relatively human in a town increasingly populated by humans. Here’s what we want for the younger Gilbert in Season 5.

A successful ghost girlfriend relationship

Jeremy has the worst luck of any TVD character when it comes to his love life - and that’s saying something on this show. Bonnie is Jeremy’s third yes, third girlfriend to die. First, there was Vicki. Then, Anna. Now, Bonnie had officially bit the dust. If we were a teenage girl in Mystic Falls, we’d resist falling for Jer. The thing is, not only have Jeremy’s girlfriends died, but they’ve come back to him in the form of a ghost, confusing his feelings about whether he should move on or not. We still count Jeremy’s ghosty reunion with Anna in Season 3, Episode 7: “Ghost World” as one of the saddest TVD moments. We’re not sure how it is possible for things between Jeremy and Ghost Bonnie to end well, but we want them to. We can’t take another Jeremy says a final goodbye to his ghost girlfriend scene.

Tank tops!

We love Jeremy in any get-up, but we do have a particular fondness for him in a tank top. Last season, we got plenty of tank top-wearing Jeremy when he was undergoing Vampire Hunter Training. Now that Jeremy seems to have graduated from boot camp, we’re worried he’ll go back to always wearing the tees and the zip-ups and that would be a mistake. What’s the point of having arms that muscular if you don’t show them off every once-in-awhile?

Sibling bonding

We still get glassy-eyed when thinking about Jeremy’s death last season, especially the immediate aftermath, which started with Elena in denial that Jeremy was really dead and ended with her burning their house to the ground with Jer’s body still in it. We deserve a little happy Gilbert bonding time this season for going through that. And so does Jeremy. He already has enough to worry about what with the dead girlfriend, the lying to his friends and family about said dead girlfriend, and the still having to go to Calculus. He deserves a few family game nights with Elena and Damon at the Salvatore mansion (you know you want to see that scene).
