The Walking Dead Season 5 Filming Spoilers: Details on Alexandria Wall

The Walking Dead Season 5 has been filming in the Atlanta area since early May, and it will continue until November, following the 16-episode pattern of the previous season. On July 9, The Spoiling Dead Fans shared intel on a wall going up around some brownstone houses in Senoia, GA. It looked like a plan for TV’s version of the Alexandria Safe-Zone, from the Walking Dead comic books, and that is still the running theory.

Whatever they call it on the show (the words “Alexandria Safe-Zone” have yet to pass anyone’s lips in an official capacity), it’s a fact that a wall is going up, and The Citizen of Senoia shared some details on the filming plans. According to their report, the Senoia City Council approved a request to construct a temporary 15-foot wall on the Gin Property. It will be in place from mid-September to the end of November, which matches filming for the second half of Season 5 to the S5 finale.

The set will be contained, with security gates staffed by personnel on a 24-hour basis. So expect to get fewer details on filming spoilers, once everyone is safely behind their walls. As the story added, "people will be in place to deal with tourists who might attempt to venture onto the property of adjacent residences.” Translation: Don’t go rogue, TWD superfans! Private property is private. Keep your paws to yourself — or you risk your lahhhfe. However, the filming schedule will be posted, so area residents know what’s up, and that might give fans some clues on what's coming to the show.

Here’s another potentially interesting detail from the news report: “Plans call for the metal wall to be anchored in such a way that it will withstand winds of 115 miles per hour.” Are they planning some high winds in the second half? Weather stuff is awesome stuff, so it would be nice to include that aspect of the environment.

Are you excited to see the Safe-Zone in action in Season 5, even if we probably won’t get to see too much of it until the second half airs in 2015?

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
