Pretty Little Liars Season 5: Ali Is Her Own Biggest Threat, Says Sasha Pieterse
It seems that almost everyone in Rosewood is out to get Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse), but the actress behind the iconic role on Pretty Little Liarschose a surprising person as Ali’s worst enemy: Ali herself. What did Sasha tell TV Fanaticabout Ali’s self-destructive behavior and how it might manifest moving forward in Season 5? Read on to find out!
“I honestly do think that Alison is her biggest threat,” Sasha sagely admitted in a recent interview. “I think she is destructing herself. But it all seems to stem from her and what kind of person she’s trying to be and it now just escalates and she can’t really get out of this hole. But because of the hole she’s created she’s facing Jenna and Mona and Lucas and all these people that are kind of ganging up against her.”
If only Alison had this kind of self-awareness! Maybe she would have been able to restrain herself from falling back into mean girl mode and slapping Mona in the 100th episode, giving the former “A” the material to convince the rest of the student body that Ali hasn’t changed. Though Ali may have played a part in creating the Mona Monster, Mona has evolved into quite the arch-nemesis in her own right. Sasha’s take on the Original “A”: “Mona is trying to get across the way of protecting herself but she is more selling [Ali] out than anyone else. Mona has always had it coming with the girls especially because we know what she’s done. We all have to be careful, everyone’s on their toes, no one feels like they’re safe.”
Does Mona have it coming? Might Mona also be her own worst enemy, destined to self-destruct if she continues down this path of vengeance? We’ll have to wait and see. We plan to pay particularly close attention to both Mona and Alison in Season 5. These girls have more in common than they’d like to admit, and we somehow doubt that both (or either) of them will make it through this season unscathed.
Catch the next episode of Pretty Little Liars on Tuesday, July 15 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
