We know that Stefan is Silas’ doppelganger, aka his “Shadow Self,” but we’re still not really sure what that means. Could Stefan be used against Silas to take the Big Bad out? Or, worse yet (for Stefan), does killing Stefan mean killing Silas? Silas did lock Stefan inside a safe at the bottom of a quarry. He could have killed him, but didn’t. Instead, Silas hid Stefan where he hoped no one would ever find him. The way Silas tells the story, he implies that he did this because he wanted Stefan to suffer. Maybe that was an added bonus, but we don’t think it was Silas’ main focus; We think Silas wants to keep Stefan hidden so that no one can harm him.
To love him
It turns out Katherine, Rebekah, and Elena weren’t Stefan’s only romances over 150 years of vampirism. We’re not sure what Tessa and Stefan shared, but it seems it was a romantic one. If so, Tessa may have been searching for Stefan simply because she missed him. This explanation seems somewhat unlikely, given that Tessa’s timing happens to coincide with Silas’ resurrection, but TVD is a show about love, and Stefan is back on the market! Besides, who can resist Stefan’s dark, brooding charisma?
To get to Damon
The official synopsis for the episode reveals that Tessa “has a disturbing message for Damon about his own future.” Could Tessa have been searching for Stefan in order to find Damon to relay this “disturbing message,” or perhaps enact some more nefarious scheme? Finding one Salvatore is usually just as good as finding the other. Perhaps, it wasn’t Stefan Tessa was looking for. We want to know more about this “disturbing message” Tessa relays and how it might contribute to the “disturbing new reality” the synopsis also says Elena and Damon must face…
