Game of Thrones Season 5 Casting: One of the Sand Snakes Cast?
Do we have our first new cast member for Game of ThronesSeason 5? While nothing is confirmed yet, rumors are swirling that New Zealand actress Keisha Castle-Hughes has been cast as one of Oberyn Martell’s bastard daughters, better known as the Sand Snakes.
Three Sand Snakes are said to be appearing in the new season: Obara, described as the most athletic of the three, Tyene, who is said to use her wits and seductive powers, and Nymeria, who is beautiful and of mixed race. Keisha looks to be athletic, beautiful, seductive, and she is half English-Australian and half Maori, so she’s mixed race as well. Basically, we think Keisha could pull off any one of the Sand Snakes! In the A Song of Ice and Fire books, Obara is described as unattractive, while Tyene is pale with blonde hair, so going by these descriptions, Nymeria would be the only logical choice for Keisha. But as we’re learning more and more, the books and the show are two different entities.
Keisha, who’s now 24, is probably best known for her starring role in the 2003 movie Whale Rider when she was just 13. Her performance in that film earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress, setting a record at the time for the youngest person to ever have that distinction.
