The Voice Season 5: Did the Right Artist Win?

Tonight on The Voice, Jamaican backup singer Tessanne Chin was announced as the Season 5 winner. We can’t say we were all that surprised. The 28-year-old has been on an upward trajectory throughout the competition, culminating in two straight weeks of iTunes chart-toppers.

But maybe you disagree with America’s choice? After all, her competitors were nothing to sneeze at. 16-year-old Jacquie Lee has turned in impressive performances all season long that defy her young age. Meanwhile, Will Champlin had experience and an undeniable work ethic on his side. He proved time and again that he has almost no limitations when it comes to his vocal ability.

And, to be fair, while Tessanne’s last two week’s have been nothing short of astonishing, she hasn’t always been the favorite to win. Early on, it looked like Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler would give her a run for her money, and at times it even seemed like Will or Jacquie were just a performance away from an upset.

What do you think. Did the right artist win, or was somebody sorely wronged tonight?

She definitely was the right person to win.

I'm so bummed!
