Glee Season 5, Episode 11 “City of Angels” Best and Worst Songs — Do You Agree?
Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts, along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed all six of the performances from Season 5, Episode 11: “City of Angels,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. Do you agree with our picks?
Best Performance of the Night: “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by New Directions
Was there any doubt that we’d pick this song as the night’s best? This performance was the crown jewel of New Directions’ Nationals set, as the vocals are especially strong during the song’s a cappella breakdown. Plus, the fact that it’s intercut with all those amazing clips of Finn (Cory Monteith) makes it particularly powerful. We’ll never forget you, Cory.
Worst Performance of the Night: “I Love L.A.” by New Directions
While this was a fun tune for Glee to choose — and it captures New Directions’ optimistic spirit — the vocals just don’t stand out, which might be a result of its novelty-song status. Plus, this version loses the original’s satirical vibe, making the song feel far more fawning that it should. So, while we liked this performance well enough, saying that “we love it” would be too strong.
