Glee Season 5, Episode 15: “Bash”: Rachel, Kurt, Blaine and Sam Sing “No One Is Alone” (VIDEO)
Grab your tissue boxes, gleeks. Because tonight’s episode of Glee — Season 5, Episode 15: “Bash — is a really heavy hitter. Based on what we know so far, a character we have yet to meet, named Russ, will be the victim of a vicious attack because of his sexual preference. When Kurt (Chris Colfer) steps in to to help, he too is attacked for being gay.
On-set photos from several weeks ago show Chris, Darren Criss (Blaine), Lea Michele (Rachel), and Chord Overstreet (Sam) filming a vigil scene, and in the sneak peek below we get an even better idea of what’s going on. The moving clip features the aforementioned foursome singing a beautiful rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s “No One Is Alone” from the Broadway musical Into the Woods.
Rachel and Sam are first shown heading to the anti-violence vigil with candles in hand and they are later joined by Blaine and Kurt. As they take turns singing the song’s titular lyric — “no one is alone” — we get a better idea of the seriousness of the matter at hand. It’s been a while since Glee has tackled a hot-button issue like gay-bashing, but if this preview tells us anything, it’s that the Fox dramedy still has the power to pull at our heartstrings and get us thinking about difficult topics that truly matter.
Between Rachel’s final note and the camera lingering on Kurt’s sullen face, we were most definitely more than a bit misty by the end of this sneak peek. Don’t believe us? Check it out for yourself and see what happens, but don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Glee Season 5, Episode 15: “Bash” airs tonight, April 8, at 8 p.m .ET on Fox.
