“Something weird’s going on,” Caroline (Candice Accola) informs Damon (Ian Somerhalder) over the phone in the 30-second promo. “Stefan and Elena are suddenly having vision-type situations of each other.” Leave it to Caroline to try to find a way for this situation to not sound incredibly intimate. We’d say she’s only moderately successful.
The “vision-type situations” seem to range from the sickeningly sweet — Stelena flirting with one another in the Gilbert kitchen while their kids play in the background — to extremely sexy — hot makeout sessions on the kitchen counter. The latter even causes Elena to drop the glass she’s holding. “That good, eh?” Enzo (Michael Malarkey) asks as Elena tries not to look at Damon.
But Damon will not be put off by the awkwardness! Instead, he will embrace it: “So, having sex dreams about my brother, huh?” he asks Elena.
“Wow, yeah, OK. That’s one way to change the topic,” Elena replies, trying to move the convo away from the awkward topic at hand.
Damon isn’t dissuaded: “I just thought I’d skip the uncomfortable parts,” he replies. See, we think TVD has found its proper genre: the supernatural romantic comedy.
