Vampire Diaries Extended Promo: Season 5, Episode 19 — “Man on Fire” (VIDEO)

Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries has seen its fair share of misfires, but it has gotten one thing gloriously right: Enzo. The character has brought a breath of fresh air to the show, and we can’t wait to see him take center stage in next week’s episode. We just hope he doesn’t kill anyone important. Check out the extended promo for Season 5, Episode 19 (“Man on Fire”).

The 30-second promo begins with Enzo interrupting Stefan and Elena’s hangout at the Mystic Grill. “You ready to talk about what you did to the love of my life?” Enzo asks Stefan, cutting right past the pleasantries. Uh-oh. We get a flashback to said love-of-Enzo’s-life, Maggie, who he fell in love with while she was working as a research assistant at the Augustine Society in the 1950s. We catch a glimpse of Maggie and Enzo smiling at one another through the bars of an Augustine Society cage.

Then, we see a shot of someone snapping Maggie’s neck: “Someone, tore her head right off her body,” Enzo explains to Stefan and Elena. He seems to think Stefan was the “someone” in question. Yikes!

“I had nothing to do with it,” Stefan insists, but that doesn’t stop Enzo from going for his heart. Luckily, Damon shows up on the scene. It seems that he’s not as fond of being murder buddies with Enzo when the target in question is his own brother.

“Oh, I’m so sorry I interrupted,” Damon quips. “The thing is: Stefan was right. He didn’t kill Enzo’s girl…”

A look of tragic disbelief crosses Enzo’s face: “What are you talking about?” The implication here seems to be that Damon killed Maggie, but we really hope there’s more to the story than that. Damon really needs a win right now, and finding out that he left Enzo to die only to go murder his one true love is not the plot development we are looking for.

Do you think Stefan killed Maggie? Do you think Damon did? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
