Glee Season 5, Episode 2 “Tina in the Sky with Diamonds” Best and Worst Songs — Do You Agree?
Glee manages to pack an insane number of songs into each episode, which means there will always be a few standouts, along with the inevitable dud or two. We've narrowed all seven of the performances from Season 5, Episode 2: “Tina in the Sky with Diamonds,” down to the very best and the coulda-done-without. Do you agree with our picks?
Best Performance of the Night: “Here Comes the Sun” by Dani and Santana
Blaine (Darren Criss) was great on “Hey Jude,” but “Here Comes the Sun” was better, better, better, ow! We love Dani (Demi Lovato) and Santana’s (Naya Rivera) voices together, especially the harmonies at the bridge, and their smiles at each other make us melt. Okay, if we had our choice of Beatles songs for them to perform, we might have chosen “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road?” — but we suppose we can wait on that one.
Worst Performance of the Night: “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by Jake, Ryder, Unique, and Marley
Not a bad performance, but it was the most disposable of the bunch, which was perhaps a result of this being the lone Beatles novelty song to be performed this week. (Maybe “Sgt. Pepper” could have been spared from landing in this slot if Glee had also performed, say, “Octopus’s Garden.”) Overall, this version feels forgettable, but we will give credit for the colorful getups.
