Pretty Little Liars Season 5, Episode 3 Spoilers: What We Learn From the Canadian Promo

The Canadian promo for tomorrow’s episode of Pretty Little Liars is out, and it’s filled with juicy sneak peeks into Season 5, Episode 3 (“Surfing the Aftershocks”). Here’s a breakdown of all of the tantalizing clues we gleaned from the 30-second promo…

Ezra is back — and Hanging With Aria

Ezra (Ian Harding) is not only back in this week’s episode, but we will get an Ezria scene! At the beginning of the Canadian promo, we see Ezra shocked to see Aria (Lucy Hale) at his apartment door. Presumably, she is there to make sure he doesn’t reveal that everything Ali has told the police and the public since her return has been a big fat lie. We hear Spencer (Troian Bellisario) tell the Liars: “Somebody’s got to go talk to him and make sure he keeps quiet about what really happened.” Looks like Aria gets roped into it. Angst!

Mona Delivers an Army Mandate

We’re so psyched to see that Mona (Janel Parrish) is in this week’s episode. According to the synopsis, she too will be on the Liars’ list of people who know about Ali’s lies and who must be kept quiet you know, by asking nicely. In the preview, we see Mona saying: “We all have to be careful how others see us.” Is she talking to someone else in her army of Ali-haters? She would have a public image campaign worked out already.

Aria Is Still struggling

Ezra’s return isn’t the only thing troubling our girl Aria. She is understandably still upset about Shana’s death. We see her confiding in Spencer: “I need to know that it didn’t happen: Shana in the theater.” Yay for Sparia, but sadness for Aria’s reality that killing Shana in the theater in self-defense decidedly did happen. We hope Spencer has some consoling words for her bestie. We’re not sure how we would handle this situation.

It’s Hastings v. DiLaurentis

The awkwardness-bordering-on-hate between the Hastings and DiLaurentis families has only increased since Mrs. D.’s body was found. Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto) very firmly orders Spencer regarding the DiLaurentis: “Now, stay away from her and the rest of them.” But Spencer isn’t one to take orders from anyone. She tells her big sister: “I’m related to parts of that family, and so are you.” Aww. We kind of love the Jason/Spencer sibling-esque relationship, even when no one besides Spencer is behind it.

Jason Is Seeing Ghosts

It sounds like Jason (Drew Van Acker) could use some allies right now. “This is what it’s like to live in a haunted house,” he says in the trailer perhaps referring to Ali’s return or maybe in relation to his mother’s recent death? Either way, there’s no doubt this guys life totally sucks right about now. Seriously, dude, you should join Team Liar. At least you can compare stories of misery.

Mr. Hastings Is Back

Adding to the Hastings/DiLaurentis drama is the fact that Mr. Hastings is back in town — perhaps for Mrs. DiLaurentis’ funeral. He has got to be having some seriously complicated feels about this situation, given that he once had an affair and illegitimate child (i.e. Jason) with Mrs. D. We hear him lecture Spencer in the preview: “Complicated problems have simple solutions.” Sounds devious. What are you up to, Mr. H.?
