Pretty Little Liars Season 5, Episode 3 Sneak Peek: Piecing Together the Clues (VIDEO)

The Liars may be back at school in Season 5, Episode 3 (“Surfing the Aftershocks”) of Pretty Little Liars, but things are far from normal. In the wake of Mrs. DiLaurentis’ death, they’re worried that the police will start asking questions about Ali’s kidnapping story and they need solid evidence to deliver when they do, like who killed Mrs. D. Check out who the Liars think is guilty in this sneak peak!

The lengthy clip from next Tuesday’s episode shows Spencer, Emily, Aria, and Hanna back to normality or at least pretending to be. Hanna isn’t having it: “Wait. This is your idea of normal? When we were in New York, Ali’s mom was killed, and now we’re in one of Ali’s biggest lies ever.” That’s our Hanna: always telling it like it is.

Emily points out that, eventually, someone is going to connect Shana’s death to them probably Jenna and they need to be ready. First order of business: make sure that the people who know Ali is lying keep quiet, like Ezra. “You know somebody’s gotta go talk to him and make sure he’s gonna keep quiet about what really happened,” Spencer tells Aria, who refuses...

“He’s alive. He’s safe. But we are over. You guys can ask me to do anything else, but you can’t ask me to do that,” Aria says before making her exit. We have to agree with Aria on this one: the Liars shouldn’t put her in this position, though we have a feeling for drama’s sake that she might end up in it eventually.

Emily comments that though “Mr. DiLaurentis kept the cops away before the funeral,” that’s over now. “It’s not going to take them long before they start punching holes in Ali’s kidnap story and when that happens, I mean we have to have something real to give to the police to explain why Alison lied and why we backed her up.”

Hanna suggests they figure out who clonked Ali over the head that night and who killed Mrs. D., which is when things turn awkward, because both Hanna and Emily are pretty convinced it was Jason. But Spencer defends her half-brother, using as proof that she saw his face when Mrs. D.’s body was discovered. We have to back her up on this one. He seemed both shocked and heartbroken. Plus, the culprit is never who the Liars actually think it is especially this early in the season. Still, the evidence to cast suspicion is there: the unsent email from Mrs. D., the fact that Mrs. D. was willing to protect someone over Ali’s apparent death, and Jason’s general behavior. Sorry, Jay, but you look totally guilty.
