We love Halloween — hell, we love any excuse to dress up in costume — but a new Vampire Diaries episode on Halloween? That’s basically like Christmas came two months early!

According to the CW, Season 5, Episode 5 is going to be a doozy! The network promises some major drama between Damon and Stefan’s doppelganger/shadow self, Silas, as well as some surprising new information about Katherine, delivered by the threesome-loving Nadia.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Halloween episode without some seriously awesome costumes. While they may not be in Mystic Falls (where there’s apparently a costume shop on every corner), Damon and Elena are bound to go all out for their first Halloween as a couple.

Traveling to Whitmore College, Damon joins Elena for the annual Whitmore Historical Gala. Sadly, the festivities comes to a screeching halt when Elena gets a disturbing message from her professor, Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett).

While the synopsis of the episode has our minds racing, we have to admit, Damon and Elena’s costumes are the most intriguing of all. The duo show up for the ball dressed as Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn — lovely enough, until you remember that Hank beheaded Anne for high treason.

According to modern historians, the charges held against Anne include adultery and incest. Pretty interesting considering Elena slept with two brothers, doncha think?

What do you think of Damon and Elena’s Halloween garb?
