The Walking Dead Season 5 Filming: Actors Tweet Arrivals in Georgia!

They’re heeeeeere! Lock the barn and hide the silver — the cast of The Walking Dead Season 5 is arriving in Atlanta and they are ready to start filming the 2014-2015 season.

TWD Season 4 just ended for us on March 30, but the cast and crew finished filming the season in late November. So they’ve been anxious to get back to work, and figure out how Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company get out of that “A” Terminus train car in Season 5. Last we heard, the actors still hadn’t seen scripts for the new season, but filming is said to start this coming Monday, May 5, so this week should be about production prep — having read-throughs of the premiere script, setting all the pieces up for the shoot, etc.

A while back, our old buddy David Morrissey (The Governor) told A.V. Club episodes take about eight days to shoot and the actors get the next episode script four days into the shoot. So that’s something to keep in mind. In the meantime, check out some of the tweets from the actors arriving in Georgia:

On April 27, Norman Reedus posted a photo of the giant Peachoid water town in Gaffney, South Carolina, which is on the way to Atlanta. So he should be there now too.

Update: Apparently everyone is now in Georgia! According to a May 2 post on The Spoiling Dead Fans, a fan was able to get photos with the cast last night, including Norman, Lawrence, Chad, Steven, Chandler, Michael, Christian, Alanna, Danai, Lauren, Emily, Sonequa and Melissa. Andy and Josh were already on set, if not in this fan's photos, so that seems to cover the major bases.

Are you excited to see things happening for Season 5, even if we won’t get to see the results for several months? At least we know it’s coming!

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
